Ohio Power Siting Board 03-2098-EL-BTA: Beaver-Greenfield 345,138 kV Transmission Line

Project: Beaver-Greenfield 138 kV Transmission Project
Company: American Transmission Systems, Inc.
Case No.: 03-2098-EL-BTA
Location: Lorain County to Erie County
Status: Line began commercial operation on May 28, 2004

This project involved a minor change to the engineering design of the Western Section of the Beaver-Greenfield Electric Transmission Line Project.  The Applicant proposed to re-configure the design standards to accommodate a double-circuit 138 kV facility.  The certificated project involved the installation of a single-circuit 345 kV line, supported on H-Frame structures.  The amended facility utilized the exact alignment as the previously certificated project.  At present, the Applicant proposes to install only one circuit, leaving the open side of the structures available for an additional circuit.  If a second circuit is required in the future, the Applicant would seek Board approval for any such installation.  The Board granted the amendment on December 15, 2003.
