Waterford Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of New Jersey based PSEG Power Inc., constructed an 850 MW combined-cycle gas-fired electric power plant in Waterford Township, Washington County. The facility´s power train consists of three GE 7FA gas-fired combustion turbines, three heat recovery steam generators, and one steam turbine. Inlet air cooling equipment and duct burners have been installed to increase the facility´s electric output. In addition, SCRs have been installed to reduce NOx emissions.
The application was filed on May 2, 2000. The Staff Report was issued on September 18, 2000. The Board certificated the facility November 20, 2000.
The facility began commercial operation on August 6, 2003.
On September 28, 2005, American Electric Power, through its Columbus Southern Power utility subsidiary, completed the purchase of the Waterford Energy Center.
