The applicant, a subsidiary of Cogentrix Energy, Inc. proposed to build a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) generating facility in Columbiana County. Two sites were investigated, one in Center Township and one in Salem Township. The facility is designed for a rated capacity of 1200 MW.
The application was received on June 14, 2001. The Staff Report was issued on Nevember 13, 2001 and the Public Hearing was held on November 28, 2001. The Board approved the project May 20, 2002.
On May 30, 2003, the Company (Cogentrix) filed a motion to cancel their certificate. By Entry dated July7, 2003, the Ohio Power Siting Board granted the motion, thereby canceling the certificate, and closing the case of record.
