The applicant is proposing to build a 1070 MW merchant plant, combined-cycle gas and steam turbines, in Franklin Township, Jackson County. The project will use General Electric Frame 7FA gas turbines.
The application was submitted for review July 20, 2000. The Public Hearing was held February 12, 2001. The Adjudicatory Hearing was rescheduled for March 20, 2001 and continued for five days. The Board approved the project on July 23, 2001.
On May 30, 2003, the Company (Cogentrix) filed a motion to cancel their certificate. By Entry dated July 7, 2003, the Ohio Power Siting Board granted the motion, thereby canceling the certificate, and closing the case of record.
