With this Amendment (filed 7/16/07), Duke Energy is requesting approval for an amendment to the transmission line route certificated by the Board in Case No. 05-361-EL-BTX. The line is currently under construction, with vegetation clearing having been initiated in July 2007. Work on the portion of the line that is the subject of this proposed amendment has been delayed pending Board approval. Under the proposed amendment, Duke Energy would alter the planned location of 4 poles and 1,600 feet of line by moving this portion of the transmission line approximately 200 feet south of the approved centerline. The segment to be re-located is near the intersection of Hagemans Crossing Road and the Norfolk Western Railroad. The Applicant contends that the amendment would (a) reduce costs slightly, (b) reduce social impacts, and (c) reduce environmental impacts. The staff report was filed on October 15, 2007. The board approved the project on November 26, 2007. The Hillcrest-Eastwood 138kV Transmission Line became operational on June 14, 2008.
