COLUMBUS, OHIO (Oct. 1, 2018) – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a hearing to allow the public to express their views about AEP Ohio Transmission Company’s (AEP Ohio Transco) proposal to construct a new 138 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line in Smith, Goshen, and Warren townships in Belmont County. The local public hearing is scheduled as follows:
Nov. 29, 2018, at 6 p.m.
Ohio University Eastern Campus
45425 National Road West
Shannon Hall, Room 219
St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950
The proposed Glencoe-Speidel 138 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project, involves rebuilding and upgrading approximately 12.7 miles of existing transmission line. The existing 69 kV line, built in the 1940s, would be replaced with 138 kV lines and taller structures. AEP Ohio Transco states that the existing transmission line has reached an age where it requires replacement, and that the upgrade would provide area residents with improved electric service reliability.
The adjudicatory hearing in this proceeding will begin at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2018, at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 East Broad Street, Hearing Room 11-C, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3793.
Additional information regarding the proposed Glencoe-Speidel 138 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project is available on the OPSB website at www.OPSB.ohio.gov in case number 18-0279-EL-BTX.
