On May 18, 2012, the Applicant filed applications to construct approximately 58.5 miles of new 138 kV electric transmission line and to convert an existing distribution substation into a transmission/distribution substation.  About 15 miles of the proposed line between Springfield and London would be installed onto existing transmission line structures.  Construction of this new line would provide for additional capacity, which would alleviate potential loss of service and also support future economic growth in the area.  The existing London Substation would require only minor modifications within the fence line to convert it to a transmission switching substation.  The Board authorized construction on March 11, 2013.
