The applicant plans to convert an existing distribution substation to a transmission switching substation. This would be accomplished by adding a 30 by 100-foot section to the existing fence line. The total overall impacted area is approximately 1.12 acres, which also includes the addition of a half-acre storm water detention basin. When finished, the entire site would comprise approximately 2.1 acres. The proposed expansion would reinforce the 138 kV transmission system in the Canton area. The staff report was docketed on Oct. 22, 2012. The public hearing was held on Nov. 7, 2012, and the adjudicatory hearing commenced on Nov. 16, 2012. The project was certificated on Dec. 17, 2012, and construction began on Dec. 19, 2012.
