OPSB sets public hearing for new transmission line in Lorain County

COLUMBUS, OHIO (Oct. 17, 2012) – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a public hearing in Vermillion, Ohio to provide area residents an opportunity to testify about American Transmission Systems, Inc.’s (ATSI) proposal to construct the Beaver to Brownhelm Junction 345 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line in Lorain County.

The local public hearing is scheduled for:

Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
Brownhelm Township Hall
1940 North Ridge Road
Vermillion, Ohio 44089

A subsidiary of FirstEnergy, ATSI plans to construct a new 345 kV transmission line between the Beaver Substation and Brownhelm Junction.  In order to minimize the crossing of existing transmission lines and to fully utilize available transmission line circuits, nearby conductors would be realigned on their structures as part of this project.   ATSI has proposed this project to mitigate thermal overloads that arise during east-to-west transfers of electricity through the ATSI system, thus improving system reliability.

The adjudicatory hearing in this case will begin on January 17,  2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3793.

Additional information regarding this project, the Beaver to Brownhelm Junction 345kV transmission line (Case No. 11-4248-EL-BTX), is available on the OPSB website at www.OPSB.ohio.gov.
