The city of Hamilton and American Municipal Power, Inc. are constructing a 105 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric power generating facility on the Ohio River at the existing Meldahl Locks and Dam. This project is a 138 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line from the new hydroelectric facility to the existing 345 kV Zimmer-Spurlock transmission line, approximately two miles inland from the Ohio-side landing of the river crossing.  The application was filed on May 4, 2011.  The staff report was issued on Sept. 28, 2011, and the public hearing was held on Oct. 13, 2011.  The adjudicatory hearing commenced on Oct. 18, 2011.  The Board certified the case on Nov. 28, 2012.  A rehearing request was denied by the Board on Jan. 23, 2012.  Construction commenced on March 4, 2013, and the line was first energized for commercial operation on May 27, 2015.
