OPSB sets public hearing on substation expansion in Columbiana County

COLUMBUS, OHIO (Sept. 18, 2012) – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a public hearing in Minerva, Ohio to provide area residents an opportunity to testify about American Transmission Systems, Inc.’s (ATSI) proposal to construct the Knox Transmission Substation project in Columbiana County.

A subsidiary of FirstEnergy, ATSI proposes to convert the existing Knox Distribution Substation to a transmission substation.  The scope of this project includes expanding the existing fence line of the facility and constructing a storm water retention basin.  The total overall impacted area of the project is 1.12 acres.  ATSI proposes this expansion to reinforce the 138 kilovolt transmission system in the Canton area.

The adjudicatory hearing in this case will begin on Nov. 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 East Broad Street, Hearing Room 11-D, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3793.
